Types of IELTS Test
The IELTS test is available in two test types: IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training.
IELTS Academic is for those applying for tertiary, undergraduate, postgraduate courses or professional registration.
IELTS General Training is for those migrating to countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the UK, or those applying for secondary education, training programs and work experience in an English-speaking environment.
IELTS Listening and Speaking sections are the same for both test types, but the subject matter of the Reading and Writing sections differs depending on which test is taken. The IELTS Speaking section is the same for both Academic and General Training and is taken face-to-face with an examiner (either in person or by video call).
IELTS Test Formats
IELTS on Computer: This test requires test takers to sit the Listening, Reading and Writing tests in front of a computer with the questions presented on the screen in an official IELTS test location. The Speaking test is not on computer and is carried out face-to-face with a trained IELTS examiner.
IELTS on Paper: This test requires test takers to sit the Reading, Listening and Writing tests with physical question papers and answer sheets in an official IELTS test location. The Speaking test is carried out face-to-face with a trained IELTS examiner.
Currently, CECL-UQÀM only offers the IELTS on Computer format.
